Position Summary:
Unix Administrator to install, maintain, and monitor multiple servers and the applications that run on the servers. Tasks include but are not limited to operating system and hardware support, application installation, monitoring and troubleshooting. This position will be responsible for providing 24/7 Unix/Application production support on a rotating basis. Must have extensive experience in working with application servers JBOSS/Weblogic. Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
Responsibilities:
1. Ensure all server resources are available and accessible by properly authorized personnel at all times. 2. Independently install, configure and troubleshoot enterprise server applications such as Jboss, Weblogic, Apache and Oracle middleware products. 3. Configure highly available application servers that provide fault tolerance and load balancing to meet the needs of the business. 4. Define and document best practices, standard operating and change management procedures. 5. Manage security of servers. 6. Monitor servers and applications for errors and performance problems. 7. 4th tier application support. 8. Effectively communicates with vendors by escalating problem in a timely manner. 9. Tune operating system and hardware for optimal performance. 10. Perform daily server administrative tasks such as account creation & removal, assign security permissions, and validate daily backups of all servers. 11. Patch management 12. Develop scripts for automating routine tasks. 13. Planning and implementing disaster recovery and high availability for critical systems 14. General troubleshooting of operating system, hardware, and application problems.
Requirements:
1. 2-5 years of experience in related field. Certification is required in some areas. 2. Strong Solaris/Linux skills 3. Strong WebLogic/JBOSS skill and administration with expertise in Installation, Configuration, Tuning, and Deploying applications. 4. Experience in installation and configuration of Apache and integration into JBOSS cluster 5. Ability to identify network issues and analyze network traffic (snoop, tcpdump, wireshark). 6. Experience in analysis and tuning of JVM heap, garbage collection and stack traces. 7. Ability to parse large amounts of data quickly, using standard utilities such as awk, sed, and grep 8. Script development with bash and/or Perl (Perl experience a plus) 9. Experience in a carrier-class ISP environment. 10. Ability to work with minimal direction, yet also able to work in team environment. 11. Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or equivalent experience.
