Serving as a Strategic Partner to the business, key responsibilities include consulting with leaders to develop solutions to human capital and organizational development/ effectiveness needs, take a lead role in counseling /coaching managers and associates on a variety of Human Resources issues, and partnering with HR colleagues and client groups to drive business results. The successful individual will ensure appropriate delivery of human resources services and compliance with all aspects of laws pertaining to the workplace. The Human Resources Business Consultant will also assist the HR Business Leader and work closely with HR team members in developing and delivering HR programs for Group Disability and other Insurance Product organizations. In addition to ongoing HR delivery responsibilities the HRBC may be assigned to various enterprise-wide HR initiatives or project teams and may take on a lead role for specific aspects of these initiatives.

Functional Responsibilities:
The successful individual will lead the development and implementation of human capital strategy requirements including performance management, compensation planning, & leadership development to successfully execute client business strategy.


  • Accountable for configuring structures, processes, reward systems, and people practices that create an effective organization capable of achieving the business strategy
  • Ensures the alignment of resources (money, information and people) that enable the organization to achieve the outcomes the organization intends to produce.  Works with business leader to articulate purpose and meaning for the organization.
  • Responsible for driving all key talent processes including talent acquisition, talent review, succession planning, leadership development and talent assessment
  • Anticipates future HR resource requirements of client based on business, industry and market conditions.
  • Evaluates the results of HR initiatives that impact client operations and results, providing value-added services to internal customers that focus on strategic HR planning, advice and consultative services.
  • Key Experience/Competencies:

  • At least 7 years of progressive HR experience, including leading others
  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree and typically advanced training and/or Masters degree
  • Significant experience with organizational alignment and leading organizational reorganization including change management plan and holistic communication plan
  • Comprehensive understanding of HR principles, techniques and procedures as well as business strategies to assess and problem solve for HR implications
  • Competencies: Excellent oral and written communication skills, sound judgment, ability to maintain a strict code of confidentiality and use of discretion
