Desktop Engineer

To carry out migrations at customer locations in line with project migration practices and procedures. Role will comprise four components:

Planning phase (no travel), assistance with:

Gathering information from in scope sites

Liaise with TR (JBE) with respect to site communication and the clarification of migration events

Scheduling and planning on a site by site basis based on Migration Portal data

Infrastructure deployment (low travel), assistance with:

Co-coordinating hardware order and delivery

Overseeing hardware installation (rack, network, power, etc)

Migration (High travel)

On-site migration work where required

Client support and troubleshooting (Floor walking)

Liaison with project and partner staff

Setting up and “kicking off” migrations at large sites which will utilize own staff

Training and Support (medium travel)

Assist with developing training packs

Creation of best practice and lessons learnt over the duration of the migration.

Ensure good operational handover to local support staff

Specific Non-functional Tasks

Ability to cope with project orientated work (associated budget and time constraints)

Travel, up to 50-60% of time at peak periods

Capacity to deal with out of hours support

Ability to interact and communicate well with internal clients at customer site

Ability to be self sufficient and follow project related processes and procedures
