Application Engineer / Sales Engineer
SUMMARY
Provide technical support to our distributor and customers in the region as well as our internal associates. This includes conducting training, holding seminars, preparing write-up and helping to resolve technical issues with our products. Although this job is largely technical in nature, the drive to do this would be to help sell the company’s products by solving customers’ problem with the appropriate application of our products. The performance of this job will also be tied to sales performance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
· Assist distributors in solving issues with our products. This will include finding solution from our technical manuals, websites and from our contacts at the factories. While this seems technical in nature, the drive to do this correctly should be a focus to get customers to use our product appropriately. Hence this activity has sales and customer focus.
· Assist the business group in reviewing tender document and participate in pre-sales discussion and meeting. Review and propose the appropriate product models for the customer/distributors.
· Interact with the customers at the appropriate level so as to provide the customer’s personnel such as the engineers with a channel to discuss their requirements and problems.
· Assist associates including customer service administrator in understanding technical details in purchase order, enquiry.
· Create or develop training materials such as video clips, presentation and organize training sessions to upgrade the skills of our distributors. This will include conducting and maintaining the certified training programs. Some of these training may be held in other countries.
· Help to identify problems with our products by participating with our distributors and authorized service providers on troubleshooting activities which may include field trips, eg interfacing with our pumps.
· Correspond with our associates in the head-offices and factories to find solutions to meet new challenges faced by our products. This may include resolving issues resulting from changes in statutory requirements, customer needs, new configuration or production eg quality problem with keypad from new supplier.
· Help our associates in business function to identify potential new use of our products. This will include joint trip with our associates in business.
· Understand new products that we may have from time to time and help to introduce these to customers in our region eg SPOT, DOMS. This may include learning about the product and disseminating the important details to colleagues.
· Undertake some of the office duties that may be more technical in nature such as computing support for our less technical associates.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
· To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to interact with people of various levels. He must be able to impart his knowledge in an effective way. He must be a hand-on person so that he can convince those in the field that he has the correct solution.
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE
· He should have at least 3 or 4 years of working experience, preferably in the Oil and Gas industry.
EDUCATION
· A Bachelor degree (preferably with Honors) in Engineering, preferably in Mechanical, Electronic, or Mechatronic. While he may have acquired one discipline in University, the job requires him to be knowledgeable in other areas of engineering specified above.
PERSONAL TRAITS
· He must be able to learn new products independently. He will have to travel to other countries and work independently with our partners. He must maintain a strong interest in the engineering discipline and in the nature of this job.
